ELIZABETH B. SWARAY
99 YEARS OLD
Mrs. Elizabeth B. Swaray was born on Monday, January 1, 1923 to the union of Mr. Henry Q Fredericks and Mrs. Anna Gray Fredericks. Her family emigrated from Ghana to Liberia, where she attended St. Teresa's Convent and graduated from 8th grade. Upon graduation, she assisted her father who was a prominent businessman.
She met and married Hon. J. Henry Swaray and was blessed with four children: Attracta Swaray, Anna Swaray, Augusta Swaray and Dr. Swithin Mustapha Swaray. So profound was her love for her children that she named her shop on Camp Johnson road after them - 3As and Mus shop.
She later joined the University of Liberia family where she worked as the Manager of the cafeteria for 25 unbroken years until the civil unrest in 1990. She was one of the best cake designer of her days.
She is a Catholic and a member of the St. Joseph Parish, Capital Hill, Monrovia. Her outstanding contributions saw her win mother of the year award on numerous occasions.
Against the natural order we expect of life, she has endured the agony of losing three of her children. She is however blessed with seven (7) grandchildren and eleven (11) great grandchildren. She presently lives in Brewerville with one of her granddaughter's Lena Woods and a great grandchild.
