HISTORY OF ST. TERESA'S EDUCATIONAL FUND
S. T. E. F.

a tradition of giving back

St. Teresa's Education Fund (STEF) was a non-profit charitable organization founded in 1986 by a group of dedicated alumnae of St. Teresa's Convent in Monrovia, Liberia.

The organization was borne out of an urgent need to assist the school with ready cash to make it operational and to provide space for students who could not attend other schools due to frequent closures, undedicated teachers and lack of finance.

The former principal of over 40 long years, Mother Anulpha, made an urgent appeal in October 1986 for financial assistance in order to keep the school doors open. STEF was a direct outgrowth of that appeal. It was an organization comprised of Liberians and friends of Liberia, dedicated to providing academic opportunities and the reconstruction of educational institutions and facilities in the war-torn Liberia.

QUOTE

"Our school is located in a coconut plantation, beside and part of the grounds is swampy. A wall collapsed on a Sunday because of the torrential rain and the poor swampy foundation eroded away. We have raised funds and rebuilt it with a very firm cement foundation and steel rod pillar support."
