St. Teresa's Convent - Class of '67

Clarissa  Tubman-Toe attended St. Teresa's Convent from kindergarten until her graduation in 1967.
Upon graduation she enrolled into The American International College in Springfield, MA where she later left to join her family in New Jersey.

She enrolled into Middlesex College in New Jersey, where she obtained a degree Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration.

Clarissa is currently employed with Freddie Mac formerly, The Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corp, and has worked in the information technology department for 29 years.

Clarissa lives in Virginia with her husband Mr John P. Toe. They are the proud parents of four daughters, Daffeyo, Venee, Aissatou and Imake, one son John Jr., and one grandson Sterling.

Clarissa enjoys cooking, dancing, and taking care of her family.
 

St. Teresa's Convent - Class of '68

Mrs. Enid Cole was born in Monrovia, Liberia.  Both of her parents are deceased.  She attended St. Teresa’s Convent from Kindergarten until graduation from High School in December, 1968.

In 1973, she obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting at Bennett College, Greensboro, North Carolina.  She then went on to pursue an MBA in Finance at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI, graduating in 1975.

Upon completion of her education, Mrs. Cole returned to Liberia in 1975 and was employed as an Accountant with the West African Explosives and Chemicals Corp (EXCHEM) in Marshall Territory.  Few years later, she joined the staff of Atlantic Marketing Corporation and Robert Bright & Sons as the Comptroller.  In October 1990, she joined The World Bank/International Finance Corporation where she worked until her recent retirement.

Mrs. Cole was married to the late Samuel B. Cole, Jr. and is the mother of four children: Sean and his wife Brenda, Anwar and Sharde, and one grandson, Makhi.  She is an active member of the Episcopal Church of the Ascension, Gaithersburg, MD.  She is currently enrolled in seminary, studying to become an Ordained Deacon in the Episcopal Diocese.  Her passion is running; she has run eight marathons.  She also loves reading, historical literature, decorating, and gardening.

St. Patrick's High School - Class of '69

Henry A. Clements, III is a humanitarian, a financial professional, business man, a disciplinarian, a family man and most importantly a Christian.  With work over 30 years in corporate industry, Henry’s professional experience links to companies and agencies such as the District of Columbia Public Schools, Dimensions International, Inc., ORC Macro International, Inc, and Computer Technology Associates, Inc. He currently serves as a Financial Consultant for the City of Baltimore Public Schools. Henry is the Sole Proprietor for Executive Tax & Accounting (ETA) Services since 1981. Primarily sought after for tax purposes, ETA also offers a variety of financial management services as well.

Henry is a proud graduate of the St. Patrick’s  High School in Monrovia, Liberia. He holds a BBA in Public Accounting/ Financial Management from Pace University in New York; an MBA from the University of the District of Columbia; and an MS in Administrative Management from Bowie State University in Bowie, Maryland. 

​

Henry has devoted his spare time to becoming a staunch member of the Freemasonry craft. He has been a dedicated member of Benjamin F. Chisolm Lodge #20 AF & AM, Baltimore, Maryland for over 20 years. His devotion to the craft has enabled him to be conferred to the 33rd degree mason. 

​

Henry is married to Maa-yon Metzger- Clements and has six children and four grandchildren. He is also a member of West Hyattsville Baptist Church.

St. Patrick's High School - Class of '71

An  American  by birth, Vahplahn Zeegar-Holman considers Salala, Bong county, Liberia, home, having spent his formative years there along with two sisters and a brother.  His father, John Wesley Holman, was a World War II U.S.Army veteran.  His mother Arimetta Nyoweh Zeegar Banks Holman was the classic hybrid Liberian with cultural footprints in Liberia’s settler and indigenous stocks.    Born  July 17, 1952, Vahplahn attended elementary school in Salala, Bong County(formerly central province), and Ricks Institute, Virginia, Liberia.  In 1971 he completed high school at St. Patrick’s High School, Monrovia, Liberia.  He is a proud 1977 graduate of the University of Liberia and the Liberian Foreign Service Institute (1975).

Vahplahn began his professional diplomatic career as a 26 years old with assignments to London, England, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and the United nations, New York.  Vahplahn also was a newscaster at ELBC/TV, teacher at his alma mater, St. Patrick’s High School, and personnel manager/labor consultant at St. Joseph’s Catholic Hospital, Monrovia.   Not unlike many of his ilk, Vahplahn did not fit the mold of the prevailing situation in dear Liberia and accordingly, reluctantly left the place he considered home almost thirty years ago for the land of his birth.

Vahplahn has worked as a social worker, educator and public speaker in both the public and private sectors.  On the cusp of retirement, Vahplahn, with the sanction of his wife, Joyce Kumbah Raynes Ogunti, is focusing more on molding the minds of his grandchildren and other young folks  willing to listen to him.

A proud grandpa/papa, father, family man and nagging husband,  Vahplahn is particularly engaged in Acres, a free outpatient clinic in Millsburg, Montserrado County, Liberia, which he and his wife have been operating since 2013.  To date, Acres has served over 34,000 patients free of charge.

St. Patrick's High School - Class of '73

Captain Kpadi A. Williams is an experienced commercial airline pilot with more than 40 years worldwide aviation and leadership experience. He is currently employed by United Airlines for 7 years now. He formerly worked for Continental Airlines for 23 years prior to their merger with United airlines in 2010.

Kpadi earned both a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach, Florida. He is also certified in airline safety.

​

Kpadi began his aviation career in Liberia where he worked for many years with Air Liberia and Weasua Airlines as a first officer, Captain and flight instructor. His flying experience includes qualifications in the MD-80, Boeing 727, 737 and 757 among others. He has served as a mentor to many young Liberian pilots and was instrumental in getting some of them hired with Continental airlines here in the United States. He has been recognized and honored by many organizations including Covington Who’s Who in 2012 for demonstrating leadership and achievement in aviation.

Kpadi graduated from St. Patrick's High School in 1973. He is one of the founding members of St. Patrick's High School Alumni Association before its merger with St. Teresa's Convent Alumni Association, to form what is now Saints Friskies Alumni Association(SFAA). Kpadi served with  distinction as National Treasurer of SFAA for many years. He is also a founding member of St. Patrick's Endowment Fund(SPEF), an organization dedicated to the cause of re-opening St. Patrick's High School. He currently serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of SPEF.

Kpadi lives in Silver Spring, Md with his wife of 34 years, Dr. Patience A. Williams, M.D, FAAP. They have 4 children, who include daughter, Henriette , and sons, Kpadi Jr., Mounda and Jeremy Williams.

St. Teresa's Convent - Class of '81

The Liberia Medical Relief Organization, founded in 2013 by Dr. Kevin and Natu Youh Strathy mission is to provide surgical services with a focus on burn reconstruction, and clinical education to healthcare workers in Liberia.  Since its inception, the Strathys have made biannual trips to provide medical services and have shipped about twelve 40ft  containers of medical and other support supplies.  Many of the medical supplies are donated by colleagues, friends and family. The Florida Hospital system has donated much in the way of medications, and the Johnson and Johnson company have donated sutures for surgery.

When in Liberia they work out of the Bomi County Hospital.  Another initiative of the organization to bring running water into the rural hospitals.  Because of the extreme need the Strathys have been making arrangements to be in Liberia for two months out of each year. 

​

Kevin graduated from the Mayo Clinic Medical School in 1980 and have done residency training in General Surgery, and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.  He has been in private practice since 1985. Natu is a graduate of St. Teresa’s Convent ’81 and also of the Cuttington University School of Nursing. She completed specialty training in Surgical Nursing in Portsmouth, England.  Natu relocated to the US in 1993 where she met Kevin soon after arriving and fell madly in love - the rest is history, (that was specified by Dr. Strathy).

St. Teresa's Convent - Class of '86

Quallyna Nini Porte is a 1986 graduate of St. Teresa’s Convent.  Quallyna is currently employed with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as Team Lead in the Office of Compliance, where she is responsible for leading a team in the development and execution of compliance and enforcement strategies related to drug quality standards and systems.  Prior to joining the FDA, Quallyna spent 18 years of her career in the pharmaceutical industry.  She worked at Baxter Healthcare Corporation in its Bioscience Division – Vaccines, in various leadership roles, including, Head of Quality, where she oversaw the commercial manufacturing and release of vaccine products to various geographies throughout the world, and the transfer of technology overseas.   In 2012, she joined Emergent BioSolutions, where she led in the establishment of Quality Systems at a new facility, qualification of said facility, and subsequent cGMP manufacturing of Phase I to III human clinical drug products.

After graduating from St. Teresa’s Convent, Quallyna enrolled in Cuttington University College (CUC) and majored in Biology.  In her senior year, Quallyna attended Kalamazoo College as an exchange student.  However, due to the Liberian Civil War, Quallyna was unable to return to Liberia; hence, she continued her studies at St. Paul’s College, where she received her undergraduate degree in Biology.  Immediately thereafter, she enrolled in graduate school at Fisk University and completed the coursework for a master’s degree in Biology.  In 2011, Quallyna received her Master of Business Administration from the University of Maryland, University College.

Quallyna’s love for St. Teresa’s Convent has led her to actively serve the Saints Friskies Alumni Association since 2000, and is the current President, a position she has held since 2011.  She is the proud mother of Myles Bright who keeps her very busy and young at heart.  When she has spare time, Quallyna enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, and watching sports, particularly basketball and football. 

St. Patrick's High School - Class of '76 - Posthumous Honor

Patrick developed an early interest in the mechanics of moving objects and sought to work with his hands all through his life. This was no surprise when he entered the field of engineering and graduated from the Maine Maritime Academy, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Maritime Engineering, minor Computer Science.  Unfortunately, due to his intolerance for the sea, he abandoned his quest for being a Maritime engineer and concentrated on his second professional love, computer science.

​

With over 31 years of computer experience, Patrick was passionate about this field and was eagerly ready and willing to assist any and everyone who needed his expertise and tutelage.  As an employee of the New Jersey Manufacturing Insurance Company, he was the Supervisor of the Information Technology group for desktop support up until his passing.

​

During high school he participated in sports, namely basketball, and was a very active member of the class of ’76. Similarly, Patrick was a staunch member of Saints Friskies Alumni Association, where he serve in several capacities including Chairman of the Board and President. Patrick worked to ensure that the organization returned to its former status of being one of the best alumni associations in the United States.

​

When not working and helping others, Patrick spent a great deal of quality time with his family and believed that those memories were the most important part of one’s life and required that we make the most of our time spent together. During his visit to Liberia in 2016, he noticed that the country was lacking experienced auto mechanics and decided to pursue that as a post retirement career. His dream was to start an auto mechanic business in Liberia specializing in rebuilding transmissions. In order to do so, Patrick decided to pursue a diploma in auto mechanic which, unfortunately, did not come to fruition.

Patrick was married to Chyrl Krangar Wreh and that union was blessed with four boys, Chayanne, Richilieu, Chauncey, and Chandler.

St. Patrick's High School - Class of '84 - Posthumous Honor

The Late Doeba Patrick Nyafor Bropleh was born onto the union of Dr. Na-Doe Patrick Bropleh and Mrs. Mary Tor Nah Bropleh on February 25, 1968, in Portland, Oregon. At the tender age of five, Doeba accompanied his parents back home to Liberia.

After elementary and junior high school, he matriculated to his father’s alma mater, St. Patrick’s High School, where he continued the family’s tradition of excellence. He graduated from St. Patrick’s High School in 1984 with distinction, and enrolled at Cuttington University College (CUC) in Bong County, Liberia. After one semester at CUC, he was accepted at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois, where in 1989, he graduated with honors with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Finance. In 1994, Doeba earned a Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from California State University. Among his many professional achievements, Doeba managed a $200 million-dollar asset with Associates First Capital Corporation.

Dobe, as he was affectionately called, was gregarious, charming, friendly, engaging and very brilliant. His love for family was evident by the fact that his family dubbed him the “Minister of Family Affairs”. He traveled far and wide to spend time with his family. He was a prolific writer and passionate about the arts. He demonstrated this through his literary works and photography.

Doeba also had an undying love for his alma mater, St. Patrick's High School.  He was a Saint’s Saint. His passion for all things St. Patrick’s was persistent and unwavering. With the many challenges facing Saints Friskies Alumni Association, the most glaring was what to do about his dear St. Patrick's that had been closed since 1989. On his initiative, along with other fellow Saints, he founded St. Patrick’s Endowment Fund (SPEF), which purpose is to work towards the re-opening of St. Patrick’s High School. Doeba was installed as the fund’s first Chairperson.

Doeba is remembered fondly by all who loved him, and his legacy will live on through all who cherish his memory.
