STC CELEBRATES 80 YEARS

On April 4, 2017, St. Teresa's Convent celebrated its 80th Anniversary with a mass at Sacred Heart Cathedral. His Grace, Archbishop Lewis Zeigler was the main celebrant at the mass.

The legacy of St. Teresa's Convent (STC) cannot be understated. Since its founding in the 1930’s by nuns of the Religious Order of the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary (FMM), STC has educated thousands of girls who have gone on to become productive women both nationally and internationally. Dr. Muna Amelia Wreh, Class of '70, wrote a brief history of STC. You can read it here.

SFAA Congratulates St. Teresa's Convent for 80 years of distinguished service to the girls of Liberia. You can view more on SFAA's congratulatory message by clicking on the button below.

CONVENTION 2017 HONOREES PERFORM

SUrgeries  in liberia

Dr. Kevin and Mrs. Natu Youh Strathy, STC Class of '81, traveled to Liberia in June to perform reconstructive surgery on children who are severely scarred or have other facial deformities.

Dr. Strathy, a plastic surgeon, along with his wife Natu, a surgical nurse, have performed over 80 surgeries in Liberia since December 2016, free of charge. They dedicate their medical training, time, and limited resources toward healing Liberians who are in desperate need of such medical services.

Dr. Kevin and Mrs. Natu Youh Strathy were honored with a humanitarian award at SFAA's convention in May 2017.

96 CELEBRATES 20 @ 21

On August 26, 2017, Saints Class of '96 is celebrating their China Jubilee, 20 years, in their 21st year. This milestone is being hosted in Silver Spring, MD.

Known as OMECA, Class of '96 were the last graduates of St. Patrick's High School. Hopefully, they will not be the last class.

OMECA stands for: One of the Most Enlightened Classes in the Arena.

To share in their celebration, the class has invited SFAA's President, Stephen Koffa, to join them on Sunday, August 27, 2017. Koffa plans to discuss SFAA's new direction with the class.

SFAA Congratulates the Boys of OMECA and wishes them joy and blessings.

We will bring you pictures of their celebration as soon as they are available. In the meantime, you can visit the Class of '96 page by clicking on the button below. Leave a congratulatory message in the comments section.

Project Coordinator – Rebuild/Reopen SPHS

Charles E. Cooper, III

Charles E. Cooper III, ’84, Treasurer of SFAA, has been appointed Acting Project Coordinator for Rebuilding/Reopening SPHS. In collaboration with SFAA Chapter in Liberia, he will play a lead role in discussions with the Archdiocese about reopening St. Patrick's High School. Mr. Cooper will act in this role until we find a permanent replacement.

The Project Coordinator for Rebuilding/Reopening of St. Patrick’s falls under the domain of the Project Committee. That committee is organized as follows:

PROJECTS COMMITTEE

  • Chair - Project Committee

  • Project Coordinators - Rebuilding/ Reopening SPHS

    • USA Representative

    • Liberia Representative

  • Project Coordinators - STC Support

    • USA Representative

    • Liberia Representative

This arrangement will enable Project Coordinators to focus on their assignment while working in tandem with the national organization. Because the schools are in Liberia, the role of the Projects Coordinators in Liberia is critical to the success of SFAA's goals.
